Dipl.-Geogr. Hermann Otto Hangen

Hermann Otto Hangen was one of the most influential people in waste composting in the Federal Republic of Germany, as he helped to develop the modern type of composting plant and played a decisive role in the development of the plant from the perspective of a supervisory authority and then as the person responsible for its operation.

This experience put him in a position to give lasting impetus to the development of composting in Germany. This was mainly due to his voluntary work on important committees and his extensive involvement in the training of young engineers. Last but not least, his work as the person responsible for the ANS publication series, which was one of the first periodicals in the waste management sector, must be acknowledged.
